Tomato and Basil Gnocchi Gratin
Back to Italy with this ultra-simple and effective gnocchi bake recipe. Pasta has the advantage of being adaptable to many ingredients, and this recipe is simply melt-in-your-mouth delicious. And as usual, it is very quick to prepare. You need to use good, soft gnocchi, otherwise the recipe will not have the same flavor.
Ingredients for 4 people
– 600 g gnocchi (fresh if possible)
– 1 large tomato or 2 to 3 small ones
– A bunch of basil
– 6 slices of cooked or cured ham
– 20 cl liquid cream (full-fat or light)
– Parmesan
– Onion or shallot
– Salt, pepper
Preparation
Cook your gnocchi as usual, then drain them. Gnocchi are easy to cook: when they float, they are done. Then peel your tomato and cut it into small cubes. Also cut your slices of cooked or cured ham into strips and sauté them in a drizzle of olive oil with some onion or shallot. You can also add a clove of garlic if you like.
Vegetarians can make this dish without the ham
When everything is ready, pour your gnocchi into a gratin dish, then add the diced tomato, ham, and chopped basil. Pour the cream over the top, then season with salt and pepper. Finish by sprinkling grated Parmesan on top (the amount is up to your taste).
Bake the dish in a preheated oven at 200°C/220°C (gas mark 6) for 15 minutes, until the top is nicely gratinated. Enjoy your meal!
