The Little Mouse Became the Tooth Fairy After Crossing the Atlantic!
You may be wondering who the Tooth Fairy is. To be honest, until our son lost his first baby tooth a few days ago, I did not know much about her either. In France, it is the little mouse that comes during the night to collect children’s baby teeth.
In the United States, it is not the little mouse but the Tooth Fairy who takes care of that mission. According to the legend, she collects children’s teeth to help build and preserve her beautiful castle.

Children therefore leave the lost tooth under their pillow, or sometimes near the bed, and during the night the Tooth Fairy exchanges it for a few dollars or a small gift.
We explained to our son that in France it is the little mouse who takes children’s baby teeth, whereas in the United States it is the Tooth Fairy. Apparently, losing a baby tooth is a real event at school here, so we wanted him to know about the Tooth Fairy.

We will definitely learn more this year because his start at American public school is getting very close. It is one more example of the little cultural differences children discover very quickly when living in the United States.
