  >  Everyday Life   >  Our Third Christmas in the USA Already!

Many of you love American holidays, and I also enjoy them a lot since we have been here. It therefore felt natural to write a third article on this subject after the 2016 and 2017 editions. This year, the holiday season was punctuated by several small events in which we took part, such as the Christmas Bricktacular at Legoland Orlando and the magic of the town of Celebration during this period.

Now Snowing in Celebration

If you are in Orlando during this period, generally from after Thanksgiving until the end of December, go to this event because it is simply magical. The town is already charming by nature, but during the holiday season it becomes truly enchanting. An ice rink, illuminated carriages, and beautiful decorations quickly immerse you in Christmas magic. And every evening during this period, snow falls in Celebration, just as it “falls” in different places across Florida during the holidays.

Since our children are fans of LEGO, and especially of this park, we chose an annual pass, which is much more worthwhile when you live in Florida. After taking part in Brick or Treat for Halloween, we also did the Christmas Bricktacular. Special Christmas-themed LEGO displays are set up throughout the park, along with many seasonal activities. On weekends, there is also the lighting of the giant LEGO Christmas tree, with the famous snowfall effect on the audience.

At preschool and at school

Preschool

As a family, the festivities started at the beginning of December with the children’s Christmas show. The following weekend, we continued by going to a Breakfast with Santa, with activities for the children. On her side, our daughter saw the Elf on the Shelf arrive at Preschool, and she also took part in several events: a gift exchange with gifts worth less than $10 between children, a Christmas party, Pajamas Day, and all the little rituals that make the season feel special for children in the USA.

What stands out year after year is how strongly the holiday season is woven into family and school life in the United States. Decorations, events, local traditions, and activities for children are everywhere. Even after several years, it still remains something we enjoy discovering.

This third Christmas in the USA also showed us how quickly new habits become part of our family life. At first, everything felt new and surprising. Over time, some of those American traditions have become familiar, but they have not lost their charm.

After several years, Christmas in the USA becomes both a family tradition and still a beautiful discovery each time.
