With its immense fine sandy beaches, its famous Florida Keys that stretch all the way toward Cuba, and its iconic city of Miami, Florida is an American state rich in tourism. People come here especially to enjoy its sports and water activities. The United States is often compared to a land of champions, whether with Michael Jordan or LeBron James in basketball, Chris Moneymaker in poker, Michael Phelps in swimming, or Kelly Slater in surfing. Visiting the United States also means discovering a real sports culture.

Even if Florida is not the ideal place for surfing because of its generally calmer waters, it is perfectly suited to many other activities such as canoeing or kayaking. To discover this real sport, which is fun but also surprisingly physical the first few times, head to Crandon Park near Key Biscayne. It is also the ideal place to try paddleboarding, that board on which you stand up and paddle. Even though the sport comes from Hawaii, it is practiced everywhere, including on the biggest lakes in the United States. That is why sports and water activities are so abundant in Florida. In addition, because of its mild climate throughout much of the year, even if you still need to watch out for hurricane periods, outdoor activities are the rule and one of the best ways to discover Florida.

When people think of Florida, they often think first of Miami with its luxurious and giant marina, where it is possible to rent a boat for a few hours, but also of the Everglades with their marshes and alligators, where the only boat that can really venture into some areas is the airboat. Do not hesitate to try both experiences if you want to discover two very different sides of the region.

There are also activities that combine sport and relaxation, such as jet skiing, which you can enjoy in many places throughout Florida. On the program: stunning scenery, clear water, and guaranteed thrills. If you prefer gentler ways of moving around, a small cruise departing from Tampa down toward Miami will let you discover part of Florida from the water, or you can take the boat that links Fort Myers to Key West. There are also many smaller cruises based on different themes all over Florida, such as sunset cruises, dolphin cruises, wild island discovery tours, fishing trips, and more.

If you are staying in Florida, keep in mind that you are also only a short flight, often less than one hour from Miami, away from the Bahamas. During my first stay in Florida, I even had the chance to spend a few days there. This proximity makes Florida an even more interesting base for travelers who like to mix beach life with a few broader adventures.

What is enjoyable about all these activities is that they make you discover the state in a more active and often more immersive way. You do not just look at Florida from the outside, you really experience it through its landscapes, its waters, its wildlife, and its outdoor lifestyle.

Florida is therefore an ideal destination if you want to combine classic tourism with a more dynamic stay. Between beaches, boats, kayaking, paddleboarding, jet skiing, cruises, and nature outings, there is no shortage of ways to enjoy the state while staying active.

Florida is one of the best destinations in the USA for combining sunshine, nature, sport, and water activities.
