In my opinion, Downtown Naples is one of the most beautiful downtown areas we\u2019ve seen in Florida\u2014and even one of the prettiest we\u2019ve visited in the United States. Fifth Avenue South is especially charming, with its colorful buildings, flower-filled sidewalks, outdoor patios, and relaxed yet sophisticated atmosphere. Most of the city\u2019s major events also take place here, including the Fourth of July parade and the famous Cars on 5th show.<\/p>\n
Nearby, Third Street South has an equally refined atmosphere. It\u2019s a lovely area to explore on foot, with elegant boutiques, art galleries, beautiful courtyards, and restaurants surrounded by palm trees and tropical flowers.<\/p>\n
Naples is also known as one of the wealthiest cities in Florida. That wealth is easy to notice, particularly around Port Royal, where some waterfront properties are worth tens of millions of dollars. Luxury cars, impressive yachts, and spectacular Gulf-front estates are part of the Naples scenery. However, the city doesn\u2019t feel overly flashy. Its luxury is generally discreet, polished, and blended into a calm coastal lifestyle.<\/p>\n
Despite its upscale reputation, Naples is not only for wealthy travelers. You don\u2019t need to stay at a luxury resort or shop in designer boutiques to enjoy the city. Walking along Fifth Avenue South and Third Street South, relaxing on the beach, admiring the Naples Pier area, or watching the sunset over the Gulf can all be enjoyed without spending much.<\/p>\n
The atmosphere changes significantly throughout the year. From January through April, Naples is at its busiest, with seasonal residents, visitors, crowded restaurants, and heavier traffic. From May through November, the city and its beaches are generally much quieter. The summer months are hot, humid, and rainy, but we personally enjoy seeing this calmer side of Naples, when it feels more peaceful and local.<\/p>\n
