Founded by the Spanish in 1565, St. Augustine is often considered the oldest city in the United States, although Pensacola also claims the title with a settlement dating back to 1559. Today, the beautifully restored historic district takes visitors back through centuries of history with its monuments, forts, museums, and charming historic homes.<\/p>

But St. Augustine is not just about history. The area also offers beautiful Atlantic Coast beaches, including Crescent Beach, perfect for a relaxing break between sightseeing and ocean time.<\/p>

We first discovered St. Augustine during a Florida vacation in 2015, then returned in 2018 during a road trip through Northeast Florida. Each time, we found that same unique atmosphere that makes St. Augustine one of our favorite cities in Florida.<\/p>

It\u2019s impossible to visit St. Augustine without discovering the famous Castillo de San Marcos, the true symbol of the city and one of the most important historic sites in Florida.
