Today, it is extremely hot all across France (a little nod to our Californian and Floridian friends who follow this blog)! So for lunch, I made a salad with a few ingredients I had on hand, including avocados.<\/p>\n
Avocado is an excellent food for your health. It is particularly known for being rich in unsaturated fatty acids that are beneficial for cardiovascular health. It is also rich in vitamins (A, B1, B2, B3, B5, B6, B8, B9, E) and minerals (including potassium and magnesium). Of course, I can only recommend trying to buy them organic in order to enjoy all of these health benefits.<\/p>\n
Ingredients<\/strong> <\/span><\/p>\n – Lettuce (nice and crisp)<\/p>\n – 2 very ripe avocados<\/p>\n – 2 slices whole wheat sandwich bread (or white bread)<\/p>\n – 1 tablespoon grated cheese<\/p>\n – Fresh cheese or a creamy plain yogurt<\/p>\n – Half a shallot cut into small pieces<\/p>\n – Walnut or canola oil<\/p>\n – Salt, pepper, turmeric<\/p>\n Preparation<\/strong> <\/span><\/p>\n Wash and cut your lettuce, previously cleaned and dried, into pieces. Place it in a salad bowl, then grate some cheese (of your choice) over it. Toast the 2 slices of sandwich bread, cut them into small cubes, and add them to your salad as well.<\/p>\n Remove the skin and pit from the avocados, mash them roughly, and add them on top of your salad.<\/p>\n For the dressing, whisk together your 2 fresh cheeses or your yogurt with the chopped shallot. Season with salt and pepper. Personally, we use very little salt, or none at all most of the time.<\/p>\n
